Sakura Sunakku
About This Spot
Stepping into Sakura Sunakku feels a bit like discovering a quiet secret tucked away in the bustling heart of Boston’s Chinatown. The space is unassuming—a small corner spot with limited seating mainly at the bar—but its warmth emerges in the gentle hum of conversation and the quick, friendly exchanges between staff and guests. It’s a place where comfort is found in simple, well-made food and the intimate pace of a neighborhood ramen joint that takes pride in its craft.
The atmosphere here is cozy without pretension. It moves with an unhurried rhythm that invites you to settle in, even if just for a brief moment between busy city errands. The close seating and open kitchen allow you to watch your meal being prepared, adding a sense of connection and anticipation to the experience.
At Sakura Sunakku, the food carries the weight of familiarity and care. Bowls of Cha Siu or Eel Unagi ramen arrive generously portioned, rich with savory broth, tender slices of pork, and delicate toppings that make each bite a little celebration of flavors. For those seeking something lighter yet thoughtfully composed, the donburi dishes—rice bowls layered with marinated meats and crisp vegetables—offer a satisfying balance. And when the meal leans toward something sweet, the crepes, especially those filled with banana or delicate floral notes, bring a playful finish that feels fresh without overwhelming.
While Sakura Sunakku shines for its savory offerings, the spot also retains a casual charm that keeps the focus on the food and the small moments it sparks—from the clink of chopsticks to the warm comfort of broth on a chilly day. It’s not polished or flashy, but rather a genuine corner for ramen lovers who appreciate a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere and honest flavors.

Excellent hole in the wall Ramen place! At $11.95 for their cha siu and/or beef Ramen, it's an absolute steal with huge portions. Absolutely recommend! There is limited seating at their bar.

Great value for money. Located in a corner in the center Chinatown you found this food stall in a mini hidden food court, this is a great way to have a ramen in Boston Downtown. I liked the Cha Siu Ramen (pork) but not the Chicken Ramen because a spice that I don't get use to (I guess it's an adquiere flavor). The service is fast and the place is not crowed. The atmosphere is cozy and quite, and they have a long menu options: ramen, sweet crepes and the fluffy Shaved Snow, a new ice cream concept that sounds quite interesting... if you don't feel stuffed after your lunch.

I’ll start with the restaurant, then talk about the food. First, a heads up: the chopsticks they use are rough wooden chopsticks you’d find in carry-out and disposable plastic bowls. If you’re like me, and the rough wooden chopsticks always chafe the side of your mouth, I recommend that you bring your own. As far as COVID-19 safety is concerned, there are plastic barriers separating you from the cashier, but no barriers between you and the other customers. Hand sanitizer is available by the cashier. The strength of the restaurant is the variety of food they serve: other than ramen and crepes, there also rice bowls. I ordered the Unagi (Eel) Ramen and the Chocolate Temptation Crepe. Unagi (Eel) Ramen ($14.00): The eel seemed fresh and was tender. However, I wasn’t really impressed with the broth or noodles. The flavor of the broth was really light and lacked richness, not at all like how I like my tonkotsu broth. The texture of the noodles was fine, but it tasted like store-bought noodles. As for price, I’d say $14.00 is reasonable: it’s comparable to other ramen prices, and there was a good amount of food. Chocolate Temptation Crepe ($7.95): I had never tried this kind of dessert before and so was really eager to do so. The textures worked well together. Since it was my first time eating this, I don’t really know how the price of the crepe compares to other crepes, but for the amount, I’d say that the price is reasonable. In conclusion, if you’re new to restaurant ramen or if you’re introducing someone to restaurant ramen, I wouldn’t recommend this place. There are other places with more flavorful ramen. However, if you’re looking to try something new, I would come here; I haven’t really seen unagi ramen, and was really excited to try this restaurant when I first heard about it. As for me, I would likely come back. I'd like to try the char siu ramen and see if the broth will be more flavorful, or may an unagi don (rice bowl). And of course, I need to try all flavors of crepes.

We went for desserts. Tried the shaved matcha ice, it wasn't good. It was bland and didn't like match at all. Super disappointed with the shaved ice. We ordered two ice cream crepes, those were amazing. We'll visit again, but we won't be ordering the shaved ice anymore.

This is our third visit and it never disappoints!! Large portions and the food is simply phenomenal. We got the spicy cha siu ramen, the chicken don, and the Sakura refreshing juice. All of it delicious! It is a small sitting area but they have a wrap around counter and a corner table that easily fits three people. Very friendly, courteous and speedy - definitely must try it!!

Sakura Sunakku in Chinatown Boston made a delicious crepe. I love the fruit crepe with pocky!! The crepe was freshly made with strawberries, bananas, blueberries, chocolate pocky, and bit more. I just love every bite. It's sweet treat!
